New Work Playlist: 10 Songs To Sing To While Working On Your Latest Project

project work playlist

If you’re like me, your Spotify Wrapped playlist from 2020 included a lot of lo-fi and chill beats. While focus music is great, sometimes you just need some karaoke-able songs to help you get through your work day. Here are 10 great songs in a work playlist to bring you through your latest project, from start to finish.

1. This is How We Do It by Montell Jordan and Wino

I don’t know about you, but I typically ride a new-project-high when I’m given a new project or gig. Take your time preparing yourself before you get the ball rolling. Start your work playlist, make your plan, get your team (or yourself) on schedule, and get ready to go!

2. We Didn’t Start the Fire by Billy Joel

As soon as you start, make sure you’re setting goals and checkpoints to ensure you’re staying on track. “We Didn’t Start the Fire” clocks in at 145 beats per minute – it’ll definitely get your foot tapping and your creative juices flowing!

3. Don’t Stop Me Now by Queen

Once you’ve hit your stride, it’s easy to follow the momentum and keep going with it. If you find yourself inspired or motivated, don’t be afraid to just keep going. When inspiration strikes, run with it.

4. Oops…I Did It Again by Britney Spears

Ah yes. The inevitable ‘uh oh, something didn’t go according to plan’ hiccup. Maybe you missed (or are brushing up too close to) a deadline, or you made a mistake you normally would’ve caught. It’s okay. You’re human. Stuff happens. Give yourself a minute to reflect, then get ready to move on.

5. Tubthumping (I Get Knocked Down) by Chumbawamba

I’ll admit it – I knew the lyrics to this song but had to Google what the actual name of it was. But all you have to do is listen to the first few seconds and you’ll be singing, “I get knocked down, but I get up again, you are never gonna keep me down” in no time.

6. Livin’ on a Prayer by Bon Jovi

Woahhhhhh, you’re (more than) halfway there! Hitting the middle of the project (whether it’s the middle of the timeline or the middle of the workload) is exciting! You should feel good about what you’ve accomplished and overcome so far and look forward to the last stretch before the finish line.

7. Stand by Me by Ben E. King

You’re getting close to the end, but it isn’t time for you to pump the breaks just yet. Make sure you’re still being thorough and that you’re still paying attention to all of the little details. Even though the project or gig will come to an end, you should make sure you put your best effort into it.

8. I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor

This is the ultimate night-before-deadline song. You can literally taste victory and see the end of the project. All you have to do is finish it. Push away distractions and remind yourself that you were chosen for this job for a reason.

9. Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I’m Yours) by Stevie Wonder

Ooh baby, here I am, signed, sealed, delivered, I’m yours!

You did it! You’re done! Double check your spelling, annotations, colors, images, measurements – make sure everything is absolutely perfect before you walk away. Whether you started a few days ago or you’ve been in this for the long haul, you made it to the end and that’s something worth celebrating.

10. Happy by Pharrell Williams

And that’s it! Cue up your happy music and pat yourself on the back. You’ve reached the end of the project, and the work playlist. Take a minute to relish in your accomplishments before you set your sights on your next great project or gig.
